Laughter, Love and a Ghost, THE HOUSE ON PERSIMMON ROAD by @JackieWeger #GreatBookDeal

The House on Persimmon Road
Jackie Weger

Need Help? Hire a Ghost! Lottie Roberts is restless and lonely. She's been sitting on her bones for decades, waiting for her ticket to heaven until... Justine Hale and her family take up residence in Lottie's two-hundred-year-old plantation house.

Lottie senses in Justine a kindred spirit--filled with heartache and in reduced circumstances--which Lottie considers mirrors her own situation exactly. Yet Justine is trying to do the right thing. Else why is she burdened with a bankrupt mother without an ounce of common sense? Or an ex mother-in-law who looks like a pickled beet with a tongue sharper than a hatchet? And where is the father of the recalcitrant eleven year-old boy and the eight-year-old afraid of her own shadow?

Justine needs help and Lottie is of a mind to provide it. But before Lottie can say squat and Justine even unlocks the front door, Tucker Highsmith shows up to steal her thunder. His dark eyes, lazy grin, and sexy Alabama drawl coupled with the dern braggart's Mr. Fix-it talents just might be the answer to all of Justine's problems. Or maybe not...

Award-winning and bestselling author Jackie Weger has published sixteen novels with Harlequin Books and is now bringing her favorites to the e-book community. Don't miss this funny, warm-hearted romance with hundreds of reviews averaging four-plus stars!

The Ghost of Ethel Allen...

Although fictional, the idea for The Depot and The Library stemmed from the ghost who haunts a 1930s tavern in Rockledge, Florida.

At the time of Ethel Allen's death, it was on record as one of the most heinous murders in Florida’s history. The murderer had gone through great lengths to conceal the woman’s identity, including smashing out all her teeth, cutting off her fingers, and burning her body. According to witnesses, the woman had been dating someone from power and wealth. However, if you search past a few days, the story all but disappeared. Weeks later, nothing! Think about that! One of the most shocking crimes in Florida’s history in the thirties, and the newspapers drop the story.

Yeahthings that make you say, “Hmmm….”

The Depot and The Library are a make believe account of what could have happened to the beautiful young woman. But since we'll never know for sure, the ghost of Ethel Allen may haunt that restaurant until someone uncovers the truth about her murder. Or, maybe she'll be happy that someone at least recognized her murder and told her story...even if it's only fictional.

If you are interested in reading The Depot and the follow-up novel, The Library, both stories are packaged in one collection.

Since I love to hear what readers want, and I write faster with a prompt... I had an idea for a giveaway.

I’m one of those writers who can take one line from a song and build an entire story around it, but I’ll stare at a blank page for hours if I have to come up with an idea for a blog post. Hence this post… I’m fishing. :)

I am in the process of writing another short story to continue my mini-mystery series, and since my first collaboration, The Pit Stop, went so well, here is your mission should you choose to accept it.

And I’m even going to give out prizes. Yay!

First part of mission: Read The Depot—if you haven’t already—so you know who my leading man Mark Waters is. No worries…I’m not asking you to buy anything; it’s free in all formats. I’ll list them at the bottom of this post.

Second part of mission: How do you want his story to continue?

Here are some ideas to give you your writing prompt:

  • Does he get, keep, lose, or break up with the girl? Mark is a police detective, and it’s not always easy for a cop to stay in a relationship, so I’m going to leave that up to you.

  • He’ll be investigating something paranormal again, of course, so where would you like it to occur?

  • Heard of any good haunts? Leave me a link to a beautiful haunt you’d like to see come to life in a story. A hotel, a Bed & Breakfast, a Cruise Ship??? Getting the idea?

Now for the prizes!!!

First prize: I will randomly select five winners for a free copy of any of my novels, whether I use your idea or not. If you’ve read them all, no problem, my new one will be out soon. :)

Second prize: Everyone who participates will be entered into a raffle for a $25 Amazon gift card.

In addition to prizes one and two, the person or persons whose ideas I use will get credit on the first page of the published book with a link to their website (if they have one and want credit, that is).

That’s it! Wanna play?
You have until April 30th to read and submit your ideas.
Don't worry, though, it only takes an hour to read.
